Meet Chris Simpson of Catch & Play Songs

Chris Simpson is Music and Music Business professional based in Detroit Michigan

Chris specializes in music marketing, music entrepreneurship and music performance.

Bio

Chris Simpson graduated from Wayne State University with a Bachelors of Music with a focus in Music Business. Chris has previously held jobs/ internships working for Live Nation, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Paxahau, Flint Institute of Music, Gen Admission, Detroit Sound Conservancy and Warner Music Group.

Chris was selected as a candidate for the top 10 Artist Manager’s through the Motown Music Accelerator program. Chris is also one of the cofounders of the WSU student run record label Old Main Records. Previously, Chris held the role as Business Development Manager at Gen Admission spearheading the development of education and partnerships to provide music business resources to the next generation of music business professionals. Chris has taught music business workshops at the University of Michigan, Wayne State University and Ferris State University.  In 2025, Chris was chosen to be in the leadership cohort for Adaptive to Digital Tech in the Arts through Culture Source.

 

Chris has taught artist development workshops for Motown Museum’s Hitsville Next  and Michigan Music Alliance's educational programming. Chris maintains an active role as an educator, curator and performer Chris has served as a mentor for 1520 Vision and currently serves on the Alumni Council for the College of Fine Performing and Communication Arts at Wayne State University. Chris is also Detroit Community Curator for The Digilogue and CoMuse.

 

Chris is the founder of Catch & Play Songs, a Michigan music company focused on artist development, music marketing and community building.
